Did you hear that the @playatmcm is now open?! Nestled in the heart of Wisconsin's state capital - it's a playland for children and adults alike. Be sure to check with them for a non-traditional wedding venue. (at this time, I am unsure if they are conducting tours).

This invitation for Emily and Spencer may result in some guests wondering why a chicken sculpture made its way on their invitation. Once they attended their rooftop ceremony, they quickly understood why. Dr. Evermore's Two-Headed Chicken welcomes guests of all ages to the museum as it keeps an eye (or would it be 4 eyes?) on the capital square. The invitation set the tone for their fun and lighthearted celebration with bright orange and playful typography.

Anneliese and Peter came to me looking for #weddingbranding. They described their look as preppy blue and white - but NOT nautical. I designed their monogram, which appeared throughout their wedding — from the save-the-dates to invitations to day-of elements. Anneliese had linens custom-made with a combination of patterns to go with her vision. These patterns appeared on the invitation enclosure's backside to tie everything together and have that one cohesive look. Being a big #badgerfootball fan, their pint glass wedding favors with their monogram and the popcorn late-night snack were on point.

Although the wedding took place in a rustic yet charming venue in rural southern Wisconsin, Quynh & Cian's event was anything but casual. Gourmandise was only natural for this epicure couple, who have traveled the world searching for great cuisines. Their wedding stationery needed to fit this image. A sleek modern letterpress printed wedding suite complete with black labels with gold ink was the perfect solution!

As a designer herself, Erica knew that creating a branded look is important. It creates cohesiveness and continuity. Wanting to have a charming feel to hers and Dan's #weddingstationery, I incorporated butterflies in a whimsical way that paired well with their spring canary yellow and teal blue color palette. From their #invitation, I expanded the design to their day-of pieces, including the ceremony program, escort cards, and wedding advice cards.

When relaying accommodation information to your guests, be sure to include the following:

🏩 Street address
🏩 Discounted rates and booking deadline
🏩 Room block referrals/code
🏩 Google map link (for website)
🏩 Note any to/from airport shuttle transportation
🏩 Specify if the hotel is in close approximation from the venue/s
🏩 Any specifics such as if there is a mandatory multiple night stay or another big event that the area would see an increase of travelers
🏩 If listing various options, indicate which one is the preferred accommodation

Clean typography on faux tree-textured paper gave a glimpse of Kristen & Jason's unique personality to their guests. Loving both the outdoors and the modern urban life, they used river stones as place "cards" for their guests that doubled as a favor. Adding to the personal touches, Jason designed their K&J monogram.

Lilacs have a deep-rooted history originating in ancient Greek mythology and are strongly correlated with love and romance. The early spring-time bloom symbolizing fresh beginnings and the start of new love was the flower of choice for Keri & Derek. They knew just where to go for the sweet, powerful fragrance. Heading to Keri's grandmother's garden, they filled her bouquet with the sweet floral aroma.

This month, Keri & Derek celebrate their eighth anniversary. Coincidentally, the lilac is the official flower for such a milestone! Best wishes on your anniversary!

INVITATION 101 | Adult-only

It could be because I design custom wedding stationery pieces that I firmly believe that each of my couples should plan their wedding to suit their vision. Precisely who they want to invite, plus-ones and/or children, is ultimately up to them — no need to explain the reasoning.
..
How do you go about relaying adult-only information to your guests? What's the most polite, discreet, and effective way to communicate this? It is best to be clear and consistent from the beginning by setting the parameters for your day.
..
1). The first step would be the invitation itself. It is essential to address each invitation to exactly who you intend to invite. Only invited guests are named on the invitation.
..
2). Reinforce your wishes on the response card.
Indicate how many seats you are allotting for each invitation.
"Numbering attending: ___ of ___ guests."
Fill in the 2nd line with the number of guests included in each invitation
"We have reserved _____ seats for you."
"__ seats have been reserved." Having guests respond online? Input all guests ahead of time, use a drop-down menu with only those guests, or have guests check off those names in attendance.

3). Highlight this request on your wedding website.
Again, you do not need to explain your reason why you are making this choice! You do need to be open and honest - and quite possibly firm with your choice. You must graciously accept that some guests may bow out. The reality is, you can't satisfy everyone. It's okay to say an adults-only wedding is a personal decision and leave it at that. You and your partner get to decide who's invited — period.

4). Address guests not abiding by your wishes sooner than later. If you feel that you owe an explanation, budget, limited space, or venue constraints are often understood as valid reasons.
..
5). Offer alternatives. Consider including information for a local babysitting service or provide childcare in a reserved room. If graciously offering childcare, be sure to get a headcount on the number of children and their ages. You'll want to equip the care with the appropriate number of providers and necessary equipment.

For @libsstagram & John, it was all about finding the perfect venue. It was the neutral design and beauty of the @overturecenter that won them over. It fit perfectly for their modern and classy wedding. All other aspects of their day followed suit.

A champagne celebration was fitting for their optional black-tie event. A favorite drink for Libby & John, it was incorporated both literally and figuratively. Glasses of champagne welcomed guests to the ceremony and continued to flow throughout the evening. As F. Scott Fitzgerald said: "Too much of anything is bad, but too much champagne is just right."

Their stationery pieces mimicked the "champagne celebration" vibe with bold contemporary typography and well-thought-out use of white space, mirroring the venue's design and color palette of black, champagne, and gold.
